    Gossamer Gear Pad

Has anyone used the Thinlight Insulation Pad 1/4" Thick made for Hammocks by Gossamer Gear? I was wondering how well it worked, how bulky it may be and how it was packability wise.
I know many are die hard UQ hammock hangers and that is great. But I am not...please don't try to convince me that I need to buy an UQ. I am really just wanting information on this pad or if anyone has a pad they use in their hammock that works great I would be interested in hearing about it. Thanks in advance for any and all information.

    Happy Hanging

I use and recommend the 1/8" pad for taking my 30F Bonefire Hammock 10F lower. I would imagine that the 1/4" would work well as that foam conforms to your body very easily and does not slide much.

FWIW when I started out with hammocks I used the GG 1/8 wide pad. When folded in half (roughly ~20" wide) it rolled down to about the same size as the as the ubiquitous blue CCF 20x72 pads.

I used one for years. In fact, I tried the UQ briefly, then went back to the pad, settling on that model. Now, I have a bridge hammock, and, although I still use a pad, I no longer use the GG. Eventually, I am gonna post it up for sale.
As to packability? I folded it, and strapped it onto the pack. Nothing fancy. If you roll it without folding it in half, its too wide. Some people said there is a condensation issue. I have had some, on the bottom, but this never once affected my bag, or the pad itself, as I would simply let it air for a while, and it dried right up. I am in the minority, in that I much prefer a pad of some sort over a UQ. But, thats me

since I went to a bridge, I use my Q core inflatable. But, I havent had the opportunity to hang with it yet, as I just got the bridge about a month ago.

I tried it. I didn't care for it. Too difficult to get it situated properly under me. But that's just me.

I cut mine in half and still (10+ years later) use the two 30"X36" 1/4 inch GG pads in my small HH classic (bottom entry).
The huge pad GG sells is meant to be cut down to the size/shape you need for your individual situation.

I'm about to custom cut the 1/4" pad to go in the 2nd layer of RR. I'm hoping that it can be my summer insulation, and supplement my 20° UQ in deep winter.

I've used a GG pad for a couple of years on early to mid-spring AT hikes in Virginia and like it because it blocks drafts in my HH. I first trimmed mine to about 34x36, and at that size I folded it lengthwise, then rolled it and carried it atop my Circuit. Recently I trimmed the width to 30 inches, but haven't yet used it at that size. There has been some condensation, but it hasn't been a deal breaker.
