I've read all the stickies and been surfing on here for a few years but I still feel like I'm missing something.

Any ideas? I'm not really sure what all the buzz is about on a diagonal lay. Call me crazy but I kind of like a moderately taught suspension and lying on the center of the hammock. I get the "do what works for you" mentality but I really want to figure out if there is some awesome comfort I am missing out on. Anything advice helps!
Don't worry about it I say. My buddy Hickery prefers a straight banana type lay and he is in the hammock and snoring within 3 minutes of tucking in.

I agree with PapaSmurf. Nothing wrong with an ENO if it works for you. I did move to a longer hammock because I am 6'2." I also don't always sleep in the "approved" position. If sinuses are bothering me I'll move my head a little more inline (raises my head). I also bend my knees in various positions for comfort or to pull them inside the border of my under quilt if they get chilly.

The best thing to do is experiment with changing the hang angle from 25, 30, 35 degrees and see how the amount of sag affects comfort. Some combinations may cause a ridge under your calf, is some may be too tight.... Good luck!

Thanks Shug. That is helpful. I realize that everyone has their own preference but I was starting to feel like I was missing out.

I don't really know how people sleep on their side in a hammock, it always seemed to me that it was too awkward.

I sleep pretty well on my side and even sleep on my stomach sometimes. Having an 11' hammock with a Knotty mod really helps me with both.

There's nothing wrong with the way you're laying in your hammock if it's comfortable to you. Different hammocks like to be hung a bit different too. I have one from Tree to Trail Gear that likes to be a little taut at 25° and I have a Blackbird that likes it's foot end much higher than my other hammocks. The Doublenest is a relatively short hammock; have you tried an 11 footer, just to compare?

It's some shock cord gathering the extra material at the head and/or foot of your hammock. It also helps keep your quilt from falling out. Knotty came up with it and shared. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...h-Side-Hammock
