First attempt at DIY gear... PLUQs

Well, I did it... This week I sat down with my daughter's seeing machine, lots of ribbon from Wal-Mart, and two poncho liners to make a couple of PLUQs for me and the boy.

I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out (except for my terrible sewing skills). Can't wait to try them out this weekend.

Thanks so much to everyone who worked on the plans for these and shared them with the HF community.

Looks great! This is on my list of projects to attempt. Which directions did you find the easiest to follow?

Well, it's a bit of an original design based upon a mixture between the No see and sew versions on ultimate hang and the video at: https://youtu.be/vsWOelVXuoI

Looks great! Is it open between the 2 layers so you could put additional insulation if needed?

Yep. Both ends are open, but with a shock cord loop that can be clinched down. I have an inflatable pad that I intend on trying inside it.... Or there's always that shiny stuff at Lowe's. I forget the name.

Reflectix is the name I think.

That's right... I have a roll, but it was purchased like a year ago, so I forgot.

I would think that a space blanket would work better .vs. reflectix just for the fact that it would curve along with the PLUQ, whereas the reflectix wouldn't bend as easily and might create air gaps.
