    Stretch in the Suspension System

What's the general consensus with having stretch in a suspension system. I've used my Eno slack straps a few times and if I hang my hammock at chair height I end up "going to ground" on accident due to the webbing stretching. I know that tubular nylon webbing stretches and I think that's what it's made out of. I've got an XLC with webbing and buckles coming in the mail and I'm wondering if it would be the same?

I don't want anything in my suspension system to stretch, at all. If you do a search, you'll find that polyester straps are the norm. If you're set on the Slap Strap style, Atlas Straps are made from polyester.

I view any stretch in my hammock suspension as a bad thing. Hence use of dyneema lines & polyester straps. No nylon.

There is one manufacture that continues to offer a Nylon based suspension....probably 50 vendors now that don't use Nylon because it really is a poor choice for hammock suspensions. Your WB gear will not stretch the way your current system does. As you have found Nylon systems will leave you dragging butt.

Yep, your WB XLC will have polyester straps that will not stretch.

Even just getting in and out you will notice a difference.

just switched from ENO slap straps to dutchware dutch clips and whoopie slings. I noticed a huge difference. I'm a big guy and after an hour of hanging, I was in the same place as when I started. Big difference. Thanks for the topic, I have been wondering what others think as well.

I get enough stretch in my system just from straps tightening and the knots setting to be enough for me. I've done bits of nylon, and its just no fun, especially once it gets wet.

I love my whoopies, no stretch at all, I hope that current change when I switch to cinch buckles but those shouldn't stretch either
