    Hello from Anderson, SC

    Hello everyone!
I've been lurking these forums for a while now and decided to join up and say thanks for the wealth of knowledge and advice I have found here. I've been camping (car/boat) for years and recently have gotten into backpacking/hiking. It didn't take me long to figure out that I wanted to get my pack weight lighter so I started searching the net for alternatives to my gear. I found these forums while on Reddit and decided a hammock was the way I wanted to go. I made the plunge purchasing a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC and Superfly tarp. I also went ahead and bought a set of quilts from Hammockgear.com, the Burrow and Incubator 20. I just received the hammock and tarp and am still waiting for the quilts ( like a kid during Christmas). Can't wait to get out for my first hang and becoming part of this awesome community !

I'm jealous of your location. Lots of good spots near you.

Welcome to the forums from Charlotte. Sounds like you have the gear figured out . Always exciting when you just start out.

Welcome from down the road in Irmo. We have a pretty terrific hanging community here in SC, and hope to see you at one of the group hangs we host throughout the year. The next one is Spring Swing at Huntington Beach State Park!
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.

Wow! What a great collection of gear to start off with. I lived near Anderson in greenville for three years.
Always last to the camp site.

Sounds like you're starting with some great gear. Welcome from just across the way, south of Westminster. I highly recommend attending a group hang, even if you aren't set up to hang yet. Palmetto State Hangers is a very active group. Also keep your eye open for Georgia hangs--they can be closer than SC hangs. If you haven't found them already, check out shugemery on YouTube and The Ultimate Hang for some basics. Let me know if I can help with anything.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Just got back from a trip to Germany, so I'm only now getting to respond. I will definitely have to get to one of these group hangs, sounds like a lot of fun.

Welcome from Garner, NC. I have the same tarp and quilts. You will be very happy with your choice. I love the western SC area. Actually other parts of SC are great as well. My years of Air National Guard summer camps were mostly in SC, Newberry, North Augusta, and of course, the beach. Go forth and enjoy.
