    NotTellingWhere Creek RedBands Fishing

Got the gang rounded up for some fishing this weekend and we had a killer trip. One of my hammock buddies (KSC) has been after me to get together this spring for a camping trip..shake out the gear a little before the full camping season hits. So in planning it and talking with another friend about getting out to a stream he and I had fished a couple springs ago we decided to make it a full weekend, camp out in the hills along the NV/ID boarder and then hike in and fish the little creek on Saturday.

Friday night as the sun went down we meet up at the CG we had planned to stay at to find the gate locked. A bit of driving round though and we found some trees that would work. Late dinner and we were in our hammocks about Midnight. The Birds though announced it was daytime in the spring well before the sun came up raising a heck of a racket all around us. We got up and started to get gear organized before the hour and a half drive to the trail head that would take us down to the stream.

Two miles and 600 feet of elevation drop and we were on the water gearing up.

My buddy and I fished for about 3 hours and we figure we covered a bit under a mile of the stream. We had to turn back as he needed to get home early that evening but we just keep seeing better and better looking water and canyon ahead with every bend. The fish kept coming and we had no problem pulling 20-30 fish each in that mile of water. We finally called it a day and hoofed it back down stream and out of the canyon.

Back at camp me and my hammock buddy set about getting camp squared back away and organized out gear for an early break down in the morning. We had a nice fire and ate burgers and relaxed as the sun went down. The Coyotes howling woke me a few times through the night and we were up and out by 7:30

Heres a few pictures from the hike and camp and the video I shot of the creek.

How do you like your Spindrift? It may be in my shopping cart soon. Looks like a good time out in the woods...

Thanks Ofuros, It was a lot of fun though a little short....I could have spent a few days on that stream. We have fished it 2 times now and never made it a full mile up stream.....and it goes for probably 10 miles from where we drop in.

I am a fan of the Spindrift for cooler weather. If its warm then I take the netted RR, if cool then the no net with spindrift.

Thanks Gunner. The Hike really is pretty nice. From the start your on the flats above the canyon and can't really even see that there is anything ahead of you until you get about a mile down the trail and then start dropping down in.

    Really appreciate the video, thanks.

What were they hitting? Were you matching a hatch or just throwing some old standbys?

I seriously need to head west for some real fishing. Tired of stockies and brookies are my only other option.
