I think that area was closed for bear problems a couple of years ago. Hopefully it is just a little bit while the bears get moving around more.

more precisely, it sounds like they're having slobby backpacker problems. can we take a moment to shame these folks who seem to be too arrogant/ignorant/lazy to practice good bear country practices? seriously, it ain't that hard and your ruining it for the rest of us. soon enough we'll all have to carry those bulky, heavy bear canisters that don't even fit in my Osprey pack.
