    How to hammock RL?

    Hey guys and gals,
This might seem like kind of a dumb question but how do I go about making a RL for my open hammock. Its a Dutch argon 1.6 if it matters.
You see, shortly after I got this one, I also got a Hammeck Netty which has a RL that pulls taut when lying in it. Ive grown accustomed to hanging my glasses, lights, books, etc. on it. So Id like to add it to my Dutch as well.
Would it be as simple as tying some Zing it to the suspension at each gathered end?
Im sure its very simple, Im just having a major brainfart right now....haha.
Please advise or post a link.
    Thnx!

That's the basic idea, but you'll have a hard time tying Zing-it. Most people either make a fixed length ridgeline by splicing a loop in each end in the correct position or making a whoopie sling or UCR so they can dial in the exact length they want.

When I added a ridge line to my ENO I just used some leftover amsteel from making a set of whoopies. You could just splice an eye on each end of the Zing-it and then feed your suspension through the loop. The general opinion is to start with a ridge line length that is ~80% of the length of the hammock and then tune it to suit you.

For a fixed Structural Ridgeline, I do it like this....

I can be as simple as this, but tends to slip off while setting up or packing...

I'm not handy, so I buy adjustable ridge lines from one of the vendors. They pretty much all sell them. Or I watch the PIF forum and get one that way.

I used this approach to build a fixed length ridgeline. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs5kkzASq28

I used zing-it to make an adjustable RL by making it a whoopie sling. after using it that way and making adjustments until I had the lenght dialed in.

when I was happy with the lenght I made a long dogbone from zing-it which is a piece of zing-it with fixed eye's at both ends.

both ends onto the CL's that are at each end of my hammock
