    Tarp guy lines

I wanted to experiment using shock cord for my tarp guy lines vice z-line. Anybody have any advice or experience using shock cord?

Oddly enough I hadn't considered using the shock cord as a tensioner. I was just going to use straight shock cord. I might try the tensioner first.

Shock cord tends to degrade over time, especially after being exposed to the elements. Many will attach shock cord loops to the pull-outs and then use guy lines to secure them to the ground.

I currently use Tarpworms and 6" shock cord loops larksheaded on and planerboard line as a guyline material. The shock cord probably isn't necessary, but I like it. If you do go all shock cord, use the 1/8" stuff and as someone said earlier, watch out for the "tarp stake slingshot".

Added shock cord to my guylines and went out for the weekend. It was amazing! My tarp was taut the whole night. A big gust of wind did pull out one of the stakes (soft dirt) and shot it into the woods. At least I was able to find it in the morning! Thanks for all the info guys!
