I actually just ordered the Tree Runner DL just to have some comparison and I also wanted to have another hammock. The Tree Runner is the same as the Trail lair except it doesn't have the bug net. I have bug nets.

As messed up as a soup sandwich
I have a couple of hammocks and like the XLC best. The foot box did not make that much difference to me though it helps a bit. I may not be as picky with set up as I have never been uncomfortable in the XLC. Maybe I am a more consistent hanger than I think but with the ridge line set, just seems to always hang the same. I really like the double layer and "really" like the shelf. I throw more stuff in that shelf then I ever imagined I would. If I shifted to another hammock I would probably miss that shelf the most. Yes you can get stuff to hang your gear from the ridge line but having it out of the way but in easy reach I see as a plus. Bottom line though is everything can be worked around, sleeping well is important so which ever hammock provides that I would go with.
I got in my custom Trail Lair today, with Hyper D, zipper opening on both sides, and the storage pocket moved up out of the way. This is my favorite hammock out of the Ridge Runner, XLC and this one. The hyperD makes this sooo nice and soft, and you really need to request this fabric if you can.
