How Long Is Everyone's Primary Suspension on Their Underquilt? (Pics Please)

So I have a HG Phoenix 3/4 underquilt and I was having a bad time with it. Then after going to a group hang I noticed how tight everyone's primary suspension was, so I did the same with mine and now WOW what a difference. No more shoulder slip, no more drafts, no more cold spots. Its amazing. So I wanted to share with other people just how short mine is and I'd like to ask other people to post pictures if they can.

I placed and white bed sheet on the underquilt so you can see the suspension lines. I also separated the secondary suspension so its easier to see. This goes on a 10' Hammock. and this is a 3/4 underquilt!

And here is the underquilt on a simple gathered end 10' hammock. You can see my ridge-line organizer to get an idea of the sag.

Great thread idea! I never though to actually measure it.

I'm not by mine at the moment, but they're pretty tight. Mine are full length, but would guess they're even a little tighter than yours by looking at that photo.

Is there a danger of OVER-tightening the primary suspension on an underquilt?

If you cannot stretch it from end to end of the hammock when hooking it on.....it could be too tight.
But tighter is better than loose. It should lift your empty hammock up.

With some UQs, it will probably matter more.

I was pushing my 4 season Arrowhead New River past its limits in the backyard. Around midnight, at 5° F, my butt was too cool. I didn't want to give up too quickly, so I got out, and cinched the suspension tighter. When I got back in, I heard that heart-wrenching tearing sound. The grosgain corner tab tore off the UQ.

Totally my fault, and AHE fixed it up so it's good as new, but yes, you can make it too tight, at least when there's no channel/primary suspension.

Mine is pretty tight. It lifts the unweighted hammock up quit a bit. I have it adjustable to easily fit hammocks of different lengths, 9 feet to 10 feet. So mine is a bit long for the short hammocks, but easily shortened, and is just right on the 10 footer.
