    New Hammocker from Ohio

Hey guys, I am a college student at Ohio State. I have just started to get into the backpacking scene after visiting a friend in Washington and going on a 3 day trip up Mt. Adams. That really sparked the backpacking bug in me and I received a tent (First ascent stargazer 2) and pack (gregory 65L) for christmas this year. I am a huge gear junky which has spilled over from my other hobbies (biking, gaming) and I really started researching hammocks earlier in the year.

I picked up a Dutchware 11 ft argon with cinch buckles for my birthday and took it on a spring backpacking trip down to Pisgah NC. I have learned most of what I know from lurking here on the forums and hope to expand my gear gradually to be able to take some solo trips with just the hammock and leave the tent behind. For now I just bring my hammock for trailside breaks, but am looking to change that!

Upcoming projects for me include building a Turtledog stand (backyard only has 1 tree and 1 post which are ~20 ft away, not ideal) as well as hopefully figuring out some place to mount some indoor bolts and of course picking up a tarp/UQ.

Welcome to the forums and happy late birthday unless you are like me and any purchase give or take a few months of your birthday, Christmas, thanksgiving, Easter, presidents day, st pattys day, etc is a good reason to get gear.
"Nothing could be more irrational than to give the people power and to withhold from them information, without which power is abused. A people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives. A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it is but a prologue to a farce or tragedy, or perhaps both." - James Madison
