    Hitch receiver stand.

Has anyone tried a hammock stand that mounts to a hitch receiver for a truck/suv/car/tank/whatever? My idea would be a bar with eye bolt to clip to coming from the receiver them mounting something in my bed with the same General set up. Any and all input welcome.

    You mean something like this?
    Sure it's a jeep but..

EDIT: I'm not sure the details of that stand, I found it on Google Search. looks to be 1.75- 2 inch steel tubing with truss support and then hang hammock from one end then tie hammock to roll bar/cage of the Jeep.

I'm curious how/where they transported something that long in a jeep (maybe it breaks down??). I've hung a few times between the roof rack and a tree but never needed to hang from the vehicle alone. Have you considered just building/buying a stand (turtledog, Hameck, etc)? I'm looking to build a more transportable stand from 4' aluminum poles (camo netting supports). As soon as I have time and can source some reasonably priced poles that's on my "to-do" list of projects.

Tie it to the roof rack with ends sticking wayy out? Kind of like how they transport kayaks?

Maybe a version of this with longer uprights for better hanging angle

That video...I'm not sure, is that Rick Sr from Pawn Stars? :P And holy, tight hang on that hammock, but it seems to STRETCH A LOT with him in it.... I agree needs taller uprights and better hang angles.... maybe extensions that slide out? However, I'm not sure how strong a cross bolt could be with extensions, I did have a thought of the same thing with my USGI 10ft pole when I had an opportunity to get a $45 17' dia army tent (no poles)....now I have this thick heavy aluminum pole, 4 sections, and it uses steel cross bolts/pins but I'm not sure it'll be strong enough to hold a hammock......hmm.

That's a LOT of tongue weight to take into consideration. (in the above video)

That was what I was worried about because that's not normal stress for a receiver
