Figure 9 for tarp suspension?

Has anyone used the small metal figure 9 for hanging their tarp lines? (not the plastic for guy lines)

They have 50 lb load limit.

I use the plastic ones. Tried the metal, but they didn't work, so went back to plastic.

Only use for the end/ridge lines, not the side tie-outs. Use little triangle plastic cams for the sides.

I use zing-it for my tarp suspension, so I use Dutch's Tarp Flyz's myself: http://www.dutchwaregear.com/flyz.html Smaller, lighter, and are stupid simple, plus supports our cottage industry.

On one end I use a small (not the smallest) metal figure 9 thats attached to the tarps ridge line via a prussik loop (for micro adjustments and adjusting for tree spacing). The other end I use a knot bone. In between I have two (one for each end of the tarp) small S biners on prussiks for sliding the tarp along the ridge line and/or tensioning the tarp. This gives me a lot of adjustability in a small package and makes it easy to put up with cold wet hands in the rain.

I use those 50 lb limit metal figure 9s on both ends of my tarp...fast and easy and never pulls loose. They're all I use.

Yea dutchware is nice, but it's more expensive

. Flyz are 15 a pair, and I would need 8 tarpworms for superfly, thats another 20. The weight of them are similar too, 4.5 grams for 2x flyz vs 6 grams for 2x figure 9.

Do yo use anything to tie the ridge line to the tree? Like these dutch hooks?

I might get a pair, its only $5 for two.

I'm thinking about getting 2 of the small 50lb figure 9, and use the plastic version for the guy lines. I already have 4 of those, and will just need 4 more.

I really wanted to use the Dutchwear. However, I bought 6 of the figure 9s on ebay for $12 shipped. They work great!

When I started out I used paracord and Figure 9's. However, I found the Figure 9's notches degraded the paracord. So I switched to the lighter Zing-It with Dutch Flyz. Not only is it lighter, the Flyz don't damage the cord.
