What Rain Tarp To Get?

My Wilderness Logics 12' Bullfrog has never let me down and is all the tarp ill ever need. Do what I did and buy it right the first time, ill never ever have to worry about my tarp no matter how foul the conditions get. Then add the outside pole mod and you'll never want to put it away.

I would look at a Cooke Custom Sewing Tundra tarp in 1.1 sil. 10x12 is plenty big fo a porch st up. Great tarps, the north woods paddlers all love them.

Hennessy hex tarp is a nice pick, big enough you can set up a porch in the rain and cook up some food and enjoy the weather.

Allot of people on this forum have choice words for eno. With that said Warbonnet and WL are some good tarps

So I'm going to go counter culture here. I think there can be some self validating information that is passed on from what everyone reads rather than experience.

Hennessy definitely makes some good product and from what I read Warbonnet does too. My best friend and usual camping partner uses the Hennessy Hex. I really like this tarp, but for what it's worth we both LOVE the ENO Housefly which I own. Super light, compact and doors that can be put to good use protecting you or rolled and velcroed back. The Housefly offers more protection because of the doors although I would guess the Hex is bigger. (I don't have the dimensions in front of me right now.) If I recall correctly you gain 9 ozs with the Housefly...

I know people love to bash ENO but I personally find it some of the best made gear. It's really well designed, has more than enough coverage and is sil-nylon. For reference - I base these views from hands on experience including Hennessy (multiple tarp and hammocks), Clark (multiple tarps and hammocks), Exped (tarp and hammock), Kelty Noah, Chinook tarp, Eno (tarp, Atlas Straps and UQ) as well as some cottage industry stuff and some MEC products (MEC is a Canadian equivelant of REI).
