    Hanging question...

    ...for my more learned hangers.

I spent this past weekend hanging in the woods and had an incredibly comfortable nights sleep both nights (20 degree temps notwithstanding).

That said, one thing i experienced was that I seemed to slide down a bit in my hammock throughout the night, sending my feet somewhat higher up into the deeper recesses of the foot end of my hammock. This happened despite positioning myself off center as Ive read we are supposed to lay in the hammock.

While I wasn't uncomfortable, I did find it slightly annoying that this happened both nights. After the first night, I rechecked my suspension and decided to lower my head end a bit (both ends were hung about equal height originally) thinking this would prevent a midnight slide, but alas, it didnt.

Inside the hammock it was just myself inside a sleeping bag. No pad or anything on which I was resting.

Anyone have a bit of insight on what i may not be doing quite right here?

A most mysterious calling harbour, So far but yet so near, I can see the day when my hair's full gray! And I finally disappear."

Gravity. Just set the head end even a little lower and you will find balance.

Try hanging the foot end a little higher.

You had the right idea lowering the head end (we usually talk about raising the foot end). You just need more of a differential between the ends.

Your center of mass (torso) sinks to the lowest point so by raising the foot end, you are moving the lowest point toward the head end.
