    compression sack for the BlackBird

Had some left over materials from a few projects and had been thinking about this one for while.

    Materials:

    3 ladder locks

enough material to get the cut peices.

1 meter of GG ribbon or webbing.

Here is the measurments that I came up with and they seemed to work out not to bad.

Cut 3 of the Ribbon or webbing

Here are my cut peices and the hammock in its stuff sack, I used some GG ribbon as I had some lying around.

Here is the ladder lock joined to the skirting edge. This will be internal and wont be seen. (I used blue thread as I had it laying round. I reckon it looks good on the Black nylon and navy ribbon)

Heres the compression straps joined to the opposite ends skirting edge.( I made a error in my excited fury of stitching and sewed these to be external.but after i a minute I began to like it. sorta like the see through phones where you can see into it only a stuff sack. does not affect prefomance)

Then after joining on the helmet end peices its done.

results..... a little bit of extra space in the pack for something else, probaly a airport steamy romance novel for when the rain is pouring.

I wonder, are there any negative effects to using compression sacks on the BB? Hmmocks are complex little packages, i wonder if it would be harmful. Of course i think you should dangle the suspension out of it, i never put it in with mine.

    You are kidding, right
Damage a BB by compressing it , i doubt it.
I think it's a great idea if you need to reduce it's bulkiness.
I want to save grams myself, bulk is not a problem for me.

You might be right about the suspension though,
if it's a sap problem where you hike.

    Just my 2 cents.

Ps, great craftsmanship, keep that machine sewing.

I think he still uses that, but made a compression unit for it.
    But maybe you know that,
and just wanted to say you are doing great with just the Bishop sack, as me ?

    great tutorial.....

to compress a BB, or not to compress a BB.....

Very Cool! I was contemplating a way to compress it myself, I love this idea!

I like! I love compression sacks, and I like how you utilize the BB bag with the design.

I don't know if I will use this on my BB, but I plan on making one for my sleep system for occasional use.
