Had a great time on the Chattooga River. Met up with BillC523 and headed to Burrell's Ford for a short Foothills and Chattooga River trail loop hike. I was able to try out three new pieces of gear and each one preformed great and made the trip more enjoyable. I finally bought a top quilt, a Wilderness Logics King Size and it not only saves space but is very well made and wide enough for my side sleeping. I have sleeping bags that range from -20 to 45 degrees and have used them as top quilts for many years and never saw the need for one. My mind is changed and blown away. The next thing was a change in the suspension system. I've been using Dutch Buckles and whoopies for a long time and like them but they increased the distance between trees and made sight selection difficult at times. I got a set of Cinch Bugs from Dutch and love them. I was able to hang in spots that would have been too close together before. The last new piece of gear was the Kovea Spider canister stove. It's a remote canister stove that gives you the ability to invert the canister in cold weather or to get that last bit of fuel out of the can. Works great from a simmer to a roaring boil.
