Another Invitation From The Texas Wilderness Ministry>New Waverly>LSHT>28-31 May

Next Wilderness Ministry Trip will be on the weekend of 28-31 May. Tom Humerick is reserving Neiderhoffer Lake for that weekend. The SHNF rules limits us to 20 people at the site. Fellowship pot luck on Friday night. Saturday we will hike the blue blazes out of Neiderhoffer to the LSHT, turn east until we hit the blue blazes going back to the Lake. Dinner Saturday another Fellowship potluck. Aspects of Saturday's activities and Saturday night's discussion have been inspired by this passage from Deuteronomy 6:

    (6) These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. (7) Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (8) Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. (9) Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
A spreadsheet has been created for the event:

Discussion is ongoing on the Wilderness Ministry Facebook page:

I'd love to join y'all on one of these wilderness ministries. Do you ever get a little closer to Dallas? Houston is a little farther than I like to go for an overnighter.

It's only 2.5 hours from Dallas to New Waverly, I am driving about 4 hours from San Antonio. Part of the reason we use Neiderhoffer Lake is you can reserve it for free from the USFS, when you reserve it, you basically own it for the weekend, only your party is allowed to be there, anyone else is trespassing. It is beautiful there, easy access from 1-45, easy access to the LSHT. The May Ministry trip is from Thursday to Sunday, if you can make it down for a day or 2, we'd love to have you.

I'm looking forward to another abbreviated trip. I'm booked on the backend but will be there early and stay a night or two.

Last year we did a thing on the NETT out of Farmersville.

Its kind of a neat little trail with two very good camping spots with great access. You have to contact the city of Farmersville to get them. HF and Ministry member LostAgain was there and can tell you more about it and GoSpidey is local to the area. We'd love to have something up there, but local support is needed (hint, hint) to get it off the ground. The location does lend itself well to a deer season event as its not "in the woods" and there wouldn't be any of the organizational problems we sometimes have with campsite use and location during hunting season.

Niederhoffer is on a semi-official blue blaze trail just off the LST about 4 miles east of Parking Lot #8 between Miles 48 & 50. Even if you're on your thru, you can stop by, camp, get a couple good meals and some blessings on the way. PM me and I'll send you the map of the blue blaze trail.
