Bridge Hammock - what do you use for your ridgeline or do you?

I used a WBBB last year - of course it comes with a structural ridgeline so I could easily hang a couple things from it. This year I purchased the Ridgerunner. It has just occurred to me that if I put my cat cut tarp under my CRL that I won't have anything to attach my light. I'll come up with some work around but I thought I'd see what you guys have been doing. Thanks!

You can attach a ridge line from suspension apex to apex, but it really isn't needed. It's fairly easy to "eyeball" a bridge. If you just want it to hang stuff from, go ahead though. Most make them from 1.75mm zing-it.

Use a carabiner or soft shackle to make it easily removable.

I tied one from suspension ring to ring, always tangled up with the hammock in the stuff sack, and I never used it. Happy now without one.

For hanging socks you can use the amsteel triangle at your feet or head. I think the RR has a pocket, too, doesn't it??

I sewed a loop inside the net through the existing loop on the outside on both ends and tied a light duty ridge line between them. Works great for my Nite Ize SpotLit and glasses. The ridge line is supported by the shock cord that supports the netting and not by the netting. I wouldn't want to open the bug net to reach my light, glasses, etc. and let the skeeters in. Anything that weighs much goes in the saddlebags.

With the net partially unzipped and the net thrown over the ridge line.

RL on a gathered end hammock is often used to set the sag of the hammock. With a bridge your hammock does not need a RL as the structure of the hammock sets the bed areas tension. To have someplace to hang up some items a piece of Shock cord run from one end of the suspension buckles to the other will work as a perfect non-structural RL that won't play with the lay of the hammock.

For me personally I don't want the extra line to get all tangled up with the other suspension lines. I use one or two of these twisted around the head end spreader bar for my reading light: http://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/s...eye_Light.html

They are a little easier to get aimed right where you want the light than from above.

If you're using a bug net you could do what I did with my DIY bridge. It has a zippered bug net and I designed it to be a very large triangle so it wouldn't hang in my face. I sewed a piece of line into the upper triangle corners to act as a ridge line for hanging stuff on.

If you're not using a bug net, maybe take a piece of cord (anything will do really) the same length as the ridgeline on your tarp and just tie it off to the loops or d-rings on each end of the tarp. It won't do anything except provide you with something to hang stuff from!

You could buy a ridgeline organizer from 2QZQ and either sew it or velcro it on the head end of your hammock. It works quite well
