5 days in Yosemite! --> Glen Aulin Trail to be exact!!

Got a pass for 5 days in June in Yosemite for the Glen Aulin Trail. Starting at Tuolumne Meadows. There and back trip...any suggestions of what to check out that has not been put in the typical guide books? Much appreciated!!!

PS...Still have a couple of spots open with the pass if anyone would like to join in!!!

    Happy trails!!

Me and the Fam actually just came back form up there last weekend. Still lots of snow and tioga pass was still closed, but i asked around and they said there is a lot of falls up there but the one everyone should see is called waterwheel falls. Not sure how close it is to the trail but i was told a must see if your hiking up there. One other bit of info he gave me was if i came back before late july there would most likely be tons of mosquitos. just a heads up.

I doubt there will be lots of mossies in July. They;re just starting, and it will be over before you know it. None of the usual meadows have the bogs they like to lay eggs in.

The falls in the park look like it's July. The falls on the Tuolumne will be a pathetic version of their usual glory. Waterwheel is a truly impressive sight when there is a normal snow pack, but, it'll likely be at an all time low.

The only up side is that the stream crossings will be easy, and not life-threatening.

It's a first come-first serve depending on availability mainly but you can reserve a pass 6 months in advance if you know for sure your schedule and route. But you definitely need a pass if you plan on hiking the back country of the Sierras. Or you might end up with a fine and get kicked out of the park. Not fun!!!

    Hi Mike,

I want to thank you for your open invitation. You mentioned this at the SoCal Hang, and unfortunately I'm off by a week for when you have the permit. My son and I are looking for a backpack the week after. I'd love to see the Yosemite backcountry sometime soon. Have fun and happy hanging!
