    Simple adjustable triangle thingie substitute

After an unsuccessful attempt to turn my IX-UQ into an IX-IQ, I restrung my quilt suspension and tried to figure out how to best eliminate the air leakage at the ends. "Triangle Thingies" came to mind and I thought, "that's cool, but shouldn't they be adjustable?"

Here's what I came up with:

The suspension is a continuous length loop of shock cord that passes around the hammock knot and goes to each side of the UQ. I used mason line to add two prussik loops near both ends of my ridge line and clipped a small lightweight biner to each one. Sure, they're useful for hanging stuff from, but when you pass the shock cord thru the biners it effectively pulls up tighter on the UQ to seal the ends against the hammock. Neat thing is that you can easily slide the prussik to adjust the pull angle, something you can't do with fabric triangle thingies.

Seems to work pretty well so far. Of course, this will require more testing ...

Nice work, Klaussinator! I have done something similar, using s-biners as that is what I had on hand. I have found it to work really well. The only drawback I have found is that the area for swinging my feet up into the hammock is reduced. Not a big deal by any means, but enough of a nuisance that I noticed it. I really like how having the UQ suspension pulled up near the ridgeline allows me to hang it onto the gathered end of my hammock without any kind of clip and it stays put.
There is no try, only do.

I do that same thing with Dutch's ridgeline quilt hooks on a prussic. I like the biner idea because then you can still hang stuff from it.

I do the same thing, but I use loops tied in prussik knots on the ridge line, then back toward the center. I leave my underquilt permanently attached but I have mini carabiners in the center if I want to remove it.

I got the idea from HF member Scum several years ago and I've used it ever since. Here's Scum's drawing. Going back to the center allows adjustability of height and tightness--both from the hammock:

I really like this system! I've used it for years and have no complaints. I think you'll like it too, K!

I could be wrong but it looks like the end channel in the UQ may be cinched too tightly which creates it's own air pocket and associated cold. You might try loosening it so that it better pulls up around the Hammock without forming a pocket.
