    Static electric shocking

I have built a DIY hammock out of Polyester Crinkle Taffeta. It turned out great. BUT The static electricity has been driving me absolutely crazy. My 3 year old plays in the hammock and if I go to reach for him I get zapped. I've noticed if I lay in it and move I've created my own charge. Does anyone else have this issue, or have ideas on how to stop it? I've tied a rope to the hammock and grounded it to no success.

I had the same issue with my Nylon Crinkle Taffeta Tablecloths. Washing and using a generous dose of fabric softener solved the problem for me. Not sure if it will help with the polyester but it couldn't hurt.

Climbing into the hammock at night in colder weather is like a lightening storm.... Nothing to shocking here...
