Noob with a genius DIY/Tarp hack

Genius???????? Well...maybe not genius but here goes. I just got my WBBB xlc and WBMJ tarp about a week ago and got to try it out last night for the first time. During my hammock research I noticed some tarps have a little pocket on the corners to hold the guy line. I didn't want to risk damaging my new tarp by trying to sew on some pockets and then the light bulb came on. I got some rubber bands to wrap around the d ring on the tarp, then wrapped the rubber band around the rolled up guy line a few times. Yeah I guess you could just wrap the guy line by itself but keeping it on the d ring will keep you from misplacing it. I'm sure I'm not the first to do this, but I haven't seen anyone doing this on the countless youtube videos I've watched. So with that being said.... SHUG!!!!!!!!!!put this in your next video!!!!!!

Often, the simplest solutions are the best.

Good trick! I usually just wind the guy line around my fingers and then wrap a few loops around the line, but this is only if I have the time and inclination. If not I just roll them up with the tarp and then into the snake skins. I like your idea though. I may give it a shot.

Nice idea, I don't bother wrapping mine anymore since I started using snakeskins. You could also put your guylines through the tri rings on the tie outs. Might not be quite as secure though.

Nice idea, but rubber bands last me about two trips when camping. They just don't survive the elements well, so I gave up on them.

I've been using (stealing) my wife's / daughter's pony tail holders for some time now, just for that purpose. They're just cloth covered rubber bands.

It'll last a heckuva lot longer than a rubber band.
