This fire is actually east of the wilderness. I believe as of today it's 70% contained. Lots of rain still to come this week

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.
Heavy rain today so it should be out. This is what it was reported yesterday.
With dry conditions on Sunday, the fire increased to the south and west and is now estimated at 221 acres, according to the release. Light rain in the area overnight, along with overcast skies and higher humidity, reduced the activity Monday morning.
Firefighters are monitoring the fire, with forecasted precipitation today and Tuesday expected to aid in firefighting efforts.
For public safety, the southern Linville Gorge Wilderness area from Chimney Gap south and east of the Linville River is temporarily closed. In addition, the following roads and trails remain closed within the fire area:
Back Irish Creek Road, also known as the Blue Gravel Road; Shortoff Trail; Mountains to Sea Trail, from the Pinnacles trailhead to the Table Rock Picnic Area
Approximately 80 firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service, N.C. Forest Service, the Nature Conservancy, and local volunteer fire departments are assigned to the fire. Burke County and N.C. Emergency Management are supporting fire operations.
We got a lot of heavy rain yesterday in and around the Gorge, Rode up both sides with no or little smoke from the fire trails were still closed at Table rock and pinicale, most of the fire was in old containment lines from a few years ago. Its rained hard and steady here today also .

I'm sure my trip down to Linville in Mid May won't see any restrictions on access or will it?
I don't think we set fires to our woods on purpose up here in Maine but I'm no expert, just haven't heard of it.
Thanks for the heads up I'll double check with the Linville Falls Park Service when I get down there.
