    Newbie in Florida

Hi all. Meg here. Mom of two (3 & 1 year). Husband is in the usaf. I stay home with the kiddos.

I've been curious about hammocks since my brother brought an eno doublenest to my dad's house for the kids to play in on the porch several months ago. I joined this site a few days ago and made the plunge today. Bought an eno singlenest, the bug net, and the atlas straps. Plan to get a fly at a later date (thinking the house fly).

My husband and I used to camp quite a bit before the kiddos came along. We've gone a handful of times since then. Mostly car camping. We are hoping to do more camping as well as trying some short backpacking trips. Excited to bring a long the hammock for the kids to hang around in and hopefully transition the family to that type of camping rather than carrying the tent. My husband was quite surprised at how small the hammock packed!

Welcome aboard Mama from Lakeland. Getting the kids out in the woods is one of the best experiences you can give them. If you are anywhere in the central Florida area we have group hangs from fall to spring. Some of the diehards manage a couple during the summer. If possible go ahead and plan to attend the 6th Annual Florida Hang at Doe Lake in Ocala National Forest over the MLK Jr. weekend. You and they will have a ball.
Thank you for your service while your husband is out there protecting us.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
