Little Help Buying Portable / Lightweight Hammock Stand?

I don’t have any trees in my backyard, and I’m not looking for a DIY project. If it helps I’m planning on buying a eno hammock, or therma-rest around the same time.. I’ve been doing a little research on some stands I found locally. I wasn't sure of the policy on links to products so I just posted pictures.

What is the difference or advantage(s) between 9ft and 15ft stand? It that for different type hammock (camping/brazilian), or to accommodate a larger person (I am only 5’8?)?

Why do some come with a hook, and others with a y shape? does it matter..?

Check out this Hammock Hang Calculator:

    http://theultimatehang.com/hammock-hang-calculator/

It'll help you see how far apart, and more importantly how high up the stand needs to go on either side. I've found that most of the stands like you linked aren't tall enough to hang an 11' hammock from (for me at least, I always sink to the ground because the hammock isn't high enough up).

that's a cool calculator. according to it, one of these stands would fit a blackbird xlc and its 111" fixed ridgeline with little to no room for adjustments. i may order it anyway and give it a shot, at least with amazon prime i can return it if it doesn't work out.

I use one of my those when I sleep over my gfs house. Its not bad, but its not ideal either. The problem with it is that with the hammock it comes with, the ropes get cut short, and the hammock is never able to truly spread out. I haven't tried any other hammock with it.
That is the cheapest I have found that I can deal with. There are more adjustable ones that I would get next time, for about double the price.
    I'd rather be hanging.

Have you checked out the Hammeck stands by the Mecks? A great stand and very portable. And best of all, great customer service and super fast shipping.

their website says the 9ft stand fit hammocks that are 10-13ft... which fits both the eno and therma-rest.. but I can't see how tall they are off the ground.

now's as good of time as any to ask; does it matter if I keep a 30 degree angle?

I've dealt with them personally. I was the same way with not wanting to take on a DIY project. It is on the pricier side but well worth the money. For one, it breaks down super small to take anywhere. Secondly, you can hang a tarp over it. I even put it up in a hotel room. I just took out the middle joint to make it shorter. It fit my eno DN easily and still room to adjust. The family is amazing to work with. I'm sure they'll give you a great quote on shipping

Or you could try snagging one of these if you want super portable/light weight:

Most of the stands like the one you have pictured don't really break down much. I got a cheap one on amazon that worked fine for my eno. I did hang about 10" off the ground though. But it worked for my apartment porch at the time. And it broke down, but not small and not easily

do you think an 11' hammock with a 9.25' fixed ridgeline would fit on one of these stands in the OP?
