Bungee cargo net for underquilt retention

I'm going to a boyscout summer camp in Mississippi in June and wanted to use an old sleeping bag for an underquilt. Has anyone used a bungee cargo net like the following website has to keep the sleeping bag against the hammock?

Thanks for any cheap alternatives or tips

You don't really want any pressure from the outside of the quilt as it will reduce the loft and therefore warmth of the quilt. I suppose if loose enough it could work.

I would be very surprised if you actually needed an underquilt for a hang in Mississippi in June. Night time lows in June range from upper 50's to mid 70's. I would just lay the sleeping bag in the hammock and sleep on top of it with a sheet for a top cover.

Well, I'm on record, here in the forums, as having a long and intimate (Evangelical?) association with cargo netting, and I (F.W.I.W.) like your idea. My first hammock, when I was a wee boy, WAS a cargo net, and I still use one under my "real" hammock, today. Super-versatile woodsy items. If slung up to just loosely trace the sag of your hammock, you could conveniently line it with your bag, and not lose value to compression. I've done exactly that, after first placing in a C.C.F. pad. Pad helps break wind and affords a little defense from rain. Maybe look into E-Z Sales (brand), NON-BUNGEE cargo netting. Lots of sizes, and available in white or green. I use 'em, I like 'em, but I shill for NO company. H.Y.O.H., and use the net that tickles you right. It's no under quilt, but, it don't know no better, if you don't tell it. Let 'er be, and let 'er work for you.
