This will be the first official backpacking overnighter in my new WBBB. This event is extra special in that it will be the first time in about 20 years that my wife is going with me. She'll sleep in the HH with the comfort of the Te-Wa UQ.
We're heading up to a nice lake in the Trinity Alps.

Question: How much weight should I make her carry?

I've got a hike planned on Saturday. Going to spend the night near the trailhead. I'll be bringing along my Matcat Deluxe as well as my new Speer Winter tarp. Plan to do some setup experimentation. Maybe bring a few different pads as well. With the underquilt, I haven't tried putting anything in the pad layer. Need to optimize the setup in anticipation of temps in teens in a couple more months.

Just enough so she'll want to go again.

Am heading up to the Mogollon Rim area in AZ with my wife. We will backpack ~5 miles up to Knoll Lake from the Tonto Hatchery area and hang by the water in a very isolated area. My wife will be packing a WBBB and Speer 8x10 cat tarp, I will likely bring along my Traveler and Maccat Deluxe. We both have Te-wa underquilts. Low predicted to be 40 degrees - should be no challenge to stay warm. With a little luck I'll catch a few trout for dinner. Might even bring along the ENO Doublenest so the wife and I can hang out together and enjoy a cocktail or three. Woo hoo!

I did the Big Piney two weeks ago. Had a wonderful time; but watch out for all the treefalls. A big windstorm last spring felled a LOT of trees. Trail sections that used to be straight are now S-shaped.

This weekend I'm doing Piney Creek (similar name, different location). Located about halfway between Joplin and Springfield in the Missouri Ozarks.

The road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with weary feet, Until it joins some larger way, Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.

I went to school in Rolla and my dad has a small place on Table Rock lake. I love the Ozarks! I wish I could do some hiking there myself. Enjoy!

Not this weekend, but middle of next week… canoeing about 5 miles in the South Arkansas bottom land swaps, bow hunting for 5 days. Mosquito city. The WB BlackBird will probably have pin holes all in it from the mosquito’s trying to get me…

Yup, planning a day hike with my dog. A 16 mile loop, so it's going to be a long day.

Hope everyone enjoys their hikes this weekend!
