VIDEO: DIY Summer Quilt Sets Build

I made 2 quilt sets using 2.5oz Climashield and Argon 67. 1st TQ is 72x50, 2nd is 78x52, and both UQ's are 60x52. They all weigh between 12-14oz. I made a pretty boring video that I hope peeps find informative. I hope to post a trip report after this weekends trip on the Appalachian Trail in the Roan Highlands, which should test the limits of all the quilts with two peoples perspectives.

These quilts performed beyond my wildest expectations. I assumed they would be good down to 40 with several layer of clothes, but they were comfortable in the 30's and my buddy and I both had to remove some clothing layers. I did get a little cold spot at 6am the 1st mourning that appears to be due to the UQ sagging a bit. I cinched it up a bit more the 2nd night and that seemed to help but it still wasn't perfect. I believe it may be caused by the channels ends sliding a bit towards each other. I was thinking of using line locs, just not sure yet. The top quilt was unbelievably comfortable. I couldn't be happier with either and my buddy gave no complaints.

Shug has a video about the sliding issue, use a little piece of shock cord on the corner of the quilt, and prussik it to the main suspension line. I do this on my Greylock 3 and it works great.

Good idea. I may have to give that a go.

Those look great! And they're light. There's definitely a learning curve when it comes to sewing Argon 67. I use tiny squares of newspaper when doing the ends and after that I pull the fabric tight from both ends so don't need the paper. I tweak thread tension a little also. Anyway, you know how to sew. I've been thinking of making a small summer climashield summer UQ. Thanks for the push!

The newspaper idea is a clever one. I played around a bit with the tension with some scrap pieces. The Climashield is the tricky stuff. Pins are now my friend. Glad I could shove that project off the back burner for ya.

Yeah, I remember that one. He calls it the "secondary suspension" or something to that effect.

Nice video - about to watch your trip report.

The big question - who is your EPL team?

Thanks! I don't really have a particular team. I just enjoy watching quality soccer. If I was to say, it's Newcastle. Not for their current form, more because I loved the old Alan Shearer days.
