    Buying through physical store

Has warbonnet ever partnered with a retailer to sell their product through a physical retail store? ...i love my WBBB and wish Warbonnet could have a place in a sales rack that would give a quality alternative to ENO. I dont want to tarnish the brand by having it mass produced in china, so seam sealed by machine idk, but it just hurts to see hammock camping fail to grow as fast as it really should.

Nope. Probably won't ever happen with any cottage vendor because it would just eat into their profits (and they'd have to mass produce).

There's often a view that HF and its members are here to promote hammock camping and grow hammock camping, though HF didn't sign up for that and I didn't either. I don't have any motivation to see hammock camping grow - more trees for me!

REI has to get their 35%, or whatever it is. You don't want to have to buy through them is there is a reasonable option. Same for any brick and mortar retailer.

How fast should hammock camping grow? Why should it grow faster?

My concern is that if suddenly there are many more hammock campers, parks that previously saw no problem with hanging hammocks or, at least looked the other way, will be forced to develop a limiting policy.

I own several Warbonnet products, I like the idea that they were built specifically for me.

Counter point about big box stores and hammocks, one word ENO. Counter point on REI, REI is overpriced and their selection is limited anyway. Counter point on why it should grow faster, because if it wasn't as great as it is we wouldnt have usernames/profiles/etc devoted to hammocking. As to why i would like it to grow faster i propose one simple question. Would you rather have the trails marred with more tent clearings, or hammocks on trees?

I don't think the 2 can go together. The quality and service we get from cottage vendors doesn't really go together with mass production. I do think it would be possible for cottage vendors to get their products in local, small outdoor shops. But even then, the shop is going to want to make some money off their products, so prices would probably have to go up even in tiny, one off shops.

I just can't see the day when the custom products our cottage vendors provide are readily available in REI. Hammock camping is too fiddly and can get expensive. Too many options. Too much of a learning curve.

There's not much of a learning curve with a tent. Lay on the ground and suffer; repeat as often as necessary.

What is with the obsession with REI? I live in northern NJ. Campmor, Gandor Mountain, Cabellas, LL Bean, Ramsey outdoor, Dicks, and EMS are all within driving distance.

He does say that he/ they are the first to be offering the WBBB- XLC to the public, other than the manufacturer- I just wish that he would learn to secure his knife. I would hate losing a good knife just because I didn't do my part and secure it at all times- just a good practice to get into- IMHO...
