Don't recall how far the far end was. Hammock was pretty tippy. It was a bipod I built. I was going to use a stake in the ground for the suspension line, but i figured that grill would obviously be more sturdy. Got the idea from Byer of Maine's Madera hammock stand. Why spend 70 bucks on that when you can build this yourself for a fraction of the price. Worked out great.
