    Sleeping topless

Son and I got a chance to camp in the woods last night. After setting up my tarp, and having the wind pull my stakes twice because the ground was very soft, knowing there was almost no chance of rain last night I decided to take it down and just sleep topless.

I don't think I've slept under the stars like that in about 20 years when I used to fall asleep on the beach at Lake Michigan. It was awesome.

My son decided he didn't want to be as exposed as I was and we set him up in porch mode, and pulled back the bug net.

Great pix! I think going topless is a mental thing. I see people setting up tarps when there's no need for extra shade, privacy, wind break, or dryness.

It definitely was a little strange at first, but the sky was nice and clear and the stars were shining bright.

I prefer not to set up my tarp if there is no chance of rain. Gives me a chance to watch the stars and the moon if they are visible.

I feel like I would wake up covered in dew if I did that here. I bet it's a great view though.

I always set up just have it pulled back to one side. Weather folks are terrible guessers sometimes!

It is liberating... had an awesome light show last week in Jordan Valley going topless. Wind gusts in the middle of the night gave me a few chills, but not enough to make me want to get up and set tarp.

Just this past weekend went without tarp...just left it in the snake skins...woke up at 2:30 am to one of the most beautiful starlite nights...I then used my Skyview app on my phone to observe 3 planets as well. It is my most preferred way to sleep out in the piney woods. Hammock camping is the best in my opinion.

I did wake up covered in dew. Small price to pay though.
