    Trip Report: 2015 Spring MAHHA

Another fun hang was had by all!! A BIG Thank you to all who helped us pull this off. Many hands made light work. Your participation really made it a huge success!

We do have pictures and videos...Tim hasn't had the time to gather them into a presentation yet. We will post when he does.

The unofficial count...the number in the group picture that Gogrillz posted...is 137 people and 3 dogs. Missing in the picture (but counted) were Dutch's wife and daughter...and Dan, and Tim who were taking the pictures. Dan's picture will include everyone present except himself.

EDIT: Please see post #54 in this tread for the Official 2015 Spring MAHHA Picture.

    Many thanks goes to:
-Dutch and the other cooks that did a great job with the Breakfast!
-Those that brought the cooking stoves, and kettle for heating the water.
-All that brought food and supplies for Breakfast and Supper.
-BrockLeigh and company for spending the afternoon making the Jamaican Black Beans!
    -JersyBears for making the Risotto!
-All those that made and brought their side dishes and desserts!
-Kafer4life for donating the Bunn Coffee maker with the large insulated dispenser to MAHHA
-The clean-up crew for both meals!
-CM Pig Out, for the Pig!

-All the vendors...to those that came, and to those that were not able to attend...for you generous donations to the raffle.
-All the individuals donating items for the raffle.
-Alana, Dutch's daughter, for calling the raffle numbers.
-Marty & Bruce (mph5 and EasyStrings) for the Raffle Ticket sales.

-Dan for taking the official 2015 Spring MAHHA Group Picture! We will post a link for availability to all.

A very special thank you goes to [o]TTeR for the beautiful Name Tags! Once again, he did an outstanding job...A very creative man!

Thank you for the cleanup efforts at the Group Site as well. Tim & Crash had very little to pick up. Usually there is a tree hugger or a tent stake left behind...but not this year!

If we forgot anyone...my apologies...and please let me know!

    Financial report:

    Raffle/Supper monies collected $3310.00

    Disbursements:
CM Pig Out Pig roast $710.00
    [o]TTeR name tag supplies $150.00
Group sites & Pavilion reservation for 2016 $550.00
......(I will make reservations next month for April 22-24, 2016)
    Donations to:
Friends of Pine Grove Furnace $500.00
    AT Museum $500.00

Monies reserved for 2016 Spring MAHHA:
CM Pig Out Pulled Pork for 2016...see note below $700.00
Misc. expenses for 2016 Breakfast and Supper $200.00

We are looking into the idea of having Pulled Pork instead of a whole pig for 2016. Reason...we had a tray of pulled pork in addition to the Pig, and that meat was more tender and juicier...very yummy! I talked to CM Pig Out today...and it is also a bit cheaper. We also have some ideas on how to make the serving line more efficient next year.

Again...thanks to all for coming and making this a very enjoyable event!

I want to start this off with a HUGE THANK YOU to Donna for all that you do for this event. Your efforts are truly appreciated. What I see you do so much and I'm sure that there is a lot more work that I don't see. Thanks again.

I didn't take many pictures (mostly video that I need to edit), but here is a shot of Donna orchestrating a flawless meal for 130.

I get to go to many hangs but MAHHA is my favorite. Mostly it is the people that make it so great. Every year I meet many more new friends. Donna thank you for all your tireless work you do to pull this off.
    Peace Dutch

I finally got back home. I want to thank Donna, Tim, Dutch, and everyone else involved in the event. I had an absolutely fantastic time. Met a ton of cool people. Rob, Bill, Doogie, JollyGreen, Demeter (thanks for taking me watercress harvesting), Rich, Aiden, Guillermo, Julio, and a bunch of you whose names I didn't get!! A real great group of folks.

I'm hoping to make the fall hang as well. If anyone get up this way and wants to "hang" out give me a holler!

I don't think the rest of the family will mind if I speak on their behalf... We had a blast! Big, huge thank you to 2Q and (especially) ZQ for pulling it all together, and to Dutch for running the breakfast! Also, thanks to everyone who attended for the tremendous company, it was great to chat with all of you! The food was great, the weather was acceptable on the aggregate, and the people were unrivaled.

As mentioned in the planning thread, I was nearly had by a man-eating spider in the men's room Saturday night. I wouldn't be surprised if AT hikers heard my bellow of disapproval. Gnarly, glowing eyes (when illuminated with a headlamp); frog-like legs, all the quicker to strike; about the size of a half dollar; black as the night. I'm not afraid of spiders, but this one got the best of me. I still shudder thinking about it... I will share a picture of the foul beast, if anyone wants to see it... I've got a few pictures to share, anyway, so I may include that one. I'll have to do that from my phone, though...

Thanks again, and I can't wait to see you all in the Fall!

Another great time! Thanks Dutch and Donna and Tim for organizing and planning. Weather was perfect too! Met some new people this time and some people I already knew. See you at the next one.

Adele and I had a great time. I'm proud of her for dealing with the +/- 30* temps at night on her first group hang, and only second time overnighting in the hammock. I enjoyed introducing her to my hammock family, and getting almost all of the gear talk I can take during the weekend. She is excited for another group hang. Maybe we will make it to the Smoked Butt hang at the end of May.

Thanks to Doogie for loaning the tarp, it was greatly appreciated.

Thanks to Dutch for being a real down to earth guy who does a great job with being hounded by the question "what's the next Dutch bling" and also for orchestrating a great breakfast to feed the masses.

Most of all, thanks to Donna and Tim for taking on the stresses of setting another great weekend up for the rest of us to enjoy stress free.

I would like to thank Donna, Tim, Dutch, and everyone else who helped put this event together. I know you all put a lot of work into this weekend. A huge thanks to everyone who brought a prize for the raffle, vendors and non-vendors alike. This was our first time with a group from HF, my family and I were super impressed and had a great time meeting a bunch of really great people. Events like this and more importantly, people like you, give me faith in humanity as a whole, thank you. It was great to spend a weekend with happy, positive, and uplifting people. My son even connected with a certain banana bread makin' genius, thanks again Dave for being so cool with my son .

I brought my entire pack up this weekend so we had the RV but I'm going to try and make the Fall event and sleep from the trees.

Thanks to all who attended and hope to see you again this Fall!!

    Mike
