    New Hanger in Tuscaloosa

    Hi All,

I just received an Expedition Asym from Hennessy Hammocks today. I am excited and I have already tried to set it up in my back yard. The tree huggers were a bit too small from the trees in my back yard. I set it up in the side yard and laid in the hammock for the first time. I'm not sure about the lines on the side of the hammock. I have to peruse the forum to figure out where to attach them. I go camping on October 2nd, 2009 in Odenville so I'm trying to set it up and try it out before I go.

I have purchased an egg crate ccf foam pad from Walmart. (they ran out of the flat kind). I purchased some tent stakes and some rope at walmart (50 feet). I also bought the walmart tarp 8 x 10. I suppose that I am trying to cover all the bases. Wish me luck. I hope that there will be trees in the campground in Odenville

Welcome, dowilliamson. The Forums are a great place to work out all the details of hanging that you don't work out in your side yard.

The lines on the side of the HH go to stakes or trees or bushes that happen to be in the right place. The idea is for the lines (shock cord) to open the hammock up a bit by your shoulders and your knees/lower legs. If your tarp uses lines close by, just piggyback the shockcord to these stakes.

The egg crate pad is a good one but practice with it before going out of town. It might be a bit warm and it definitely will take some practice to use it inside the Hennessy but it can be done. If the tarp is polyethylene (blue or brown or green plastic-like with grommets), be sure to use lots of tie outs if it's windy and don't pull so hard you pull out a grommet. Take some duct tape for repairs in case the wind picks up.

    Happy Hangin'!
