I read that article and was disappointed in the hammocks they featured, but I did learn about companies that had some interesting setups that I will most likely never buy.
Get lost in the woods and find yourself again. A vacation,to me, is working with your hands and surviving because of the fruits of your labor. In the business world I teach;in the natural world I learn.
Sad they didn't get a true picture of hanging in there!

None of the cottage industry people advertise in their magazine ! That is why ! I do admit they do have some good articles some times, this on was not so good !
For what it's worth, RSBTR got a shout out in a different article in that issue. And I believe JRB does advertise with them sometimes.
I will stick with my warbonnet.

If I didn't need reading material for certain things, I wouldn't subscribe to magazines at all. The gear reviews are pointless. Some of the journalistic pieces are good, but most of the publication is just meh.
Backpacker Magazine used to be a magazine for backpackers. Now its a magazine that pimps for big manufacturers that sells mass market items to backpackers.
Yeah, I had a subscription in the late 90's when it was a legitimate source or info for me along with books. I looked through one recently and was amazed at the amount of advertising there was. I'm happy with our little community right now. I'm not too anxious for hammock camping to go too mainstream.
Don't let life get in the way of living.
I'm 90% sure that Backpacker is paid to feature all the gear that they do because most of their suggestions are absurd.
