    First DIY UQ

Well I've been on this forum for abot 2 years now and figured it was time to post a project thread. Not a complete DIY noob, I've made 2 hammocks, woopies, sew yp ponch liner UQ. But thia will be what I consider my first real challenging project. A 1 season (3 here in socal, but I won't be here much longer) climashield UQ. Using Argon 90 dark olive outside, Argon 1.6 black inside (heavy I know but already had it) 3.6 climasheild. Dimensions will be roughly 40 x 58 got my orders in from Dutch and RSBTR and ready to start.uploadfromtaptalk1430419556845.jpguploadfromtaptalk1430419583730.jpg

I will keep this updated. Part of my idea putting it on here is to keep me on track and take my time. I have a tendency to either procrastinate or rush and I don't want to do either here. Making tree strap with sew on dutch clips and a roll up suspension bag. You can probably tell from the pic anout the tree straps, the roll up bag will be from the usps tyvek bag and hold my tree straps, woopies, tarp ridgeline, and tie out stakes.

I will follow this. I am in the exact same position as you and I have a box that looks just like yours with the insulation popping out the top. Just waiting for the last bit of material from Dutch and hoping to work on it the next rainy day that comes around.

I've made two underquilts with climashield. It's not that difficult to work with, but you are best off to take your time. A fairly simple project can go bad fast if you, for instance, screw up cutting your fabric (at least this is what I've heard )
Two heads are good, three are great, but all heads at hammockforums is the best case scenario!

Yes, that is the worst that can happen and yes, take your time as NW says - double check things. I'm proud to say I've never been caught cutting fabric the wrong size.

Just an update. Got everything cut out and made the decision to sew up the shell and then attach the climasheild to that. Hopefully this way it will all be easier to manage. Here is how i did the sides. I pinned 1 side rolled everthing up with binder clips then sewed it did the other side the same way then did the bottom. Next step add the climasheild, any pointers so I dont mess up my quilt? uploadfromtaptalk1430723589540.jpg

Finished up the body tonight. Came out pretty good I think, some minor sewing errors but still functional. Need to get some shock cord for the suspention to complete it. One thing I did different ( I think) was on the end channels I used 1/4in elastic sewed in to keep it tight. This seems lighter and if it doesn't work out I can easily take it out and use shock cord. Pics of hanging to come but for now here you go.uploadfromtaptalk1430804310659.jpg
