    Evrgrn Downtime Hammock

Rei just announced their new brand Evergrn and it includes a new hammock made for lounging.

    http://m.rei.com/product/882922/evrgrn-downtime-hammock

It looks like a really wide and short bridge hammock to me. Has anyone made one of these couch hammocks before? I've seen hammock chairs a plenty, but no hammock couches. Seems like it could be a cool project.

A lot of that weight is probably the spreader bars. It's actually like a 90" wide bridge hammock, so those spreaders are pretty big. Unless I'm looking at it all wrong.

It never ceases to simply amaze me.

Someone, maybe more than one individual in actuality, are making six figures and possibly beyond, making the crucial decisions, necessary to bring such products to us via their markets. I don't see a product like this getting out of the campground at an over crowded albeit accommodating SP somewhere, No wonder I feel so weird inside REI.

Now watch six of these show up at the next hang.

Yep you're right rolloff, there will be six or more at the next hang. Yet they weigh nearly 7 lbs. i wish people who hiked and hammocked would be the ones to make new products then the ones who never leave their office.

Hmmm,,, a small couch for less than $150... hmmm

Interesting use of the bridge-design end-caps. The pockets are nice.

Ya... not a camping hammock but interesting casual furniture.

Wonder if it sleeps like a bridge hammock?
Wonder if the front edge cuts into the underside of your legs when sitting??

Come on guys, Lighten up. We aren't the target market. Instead of disparaging this product be happy we have and have discovered our cottage vendors and wealth of DIY information. On the upside it appears to come with 1" tree straps instead of ropes or no suspension.

Yeah as much as we love hammocks, we should be happy when the market expands and we have companies competing to make them better for all types of users.
