anyone seen this suppension before

I hope this is not against any forum rules ,if it is please remove ,my wife came home with a another hammock from Costco,
chillax is the name ,normal enough tttm type of hammock ,but the suspension thing has me intrigued ,forget about the rope they use ,and no tree hugger ect ect ,but just the way the black plastic bit works , its is sort of speed hook meets ,whoopee hook,( only ginormous ) extremely easy to adjust ,but I removed the standard 3/8 rope ( or what ever size it is ) and have used just a piece of 7/64 Amsteel dog bone that I had ,problem is the distance you need ,I don't have enough room inside to truly test it , ,I am just playing with it until I can hit some trees in the park ,but was just curious if anyone had seen this before ,or has used it ,I think dutch could come up with something along these lines ,except 1/10 the the size and weight , unless there is something am missing ? here is a link to it ,

What about Elephant Trunks? A similar idea but still allows you to use webbing instead of a rope against the tree.

yeah I have seen the elephant trunk before but I have never seen these new things ,the new thing definitely adjust way easier or so it seems than straps

they were at the outdoor retailer show. They are heavy and bulky. I cringe at the rope going around the tree.

Same principle as the line adjusters that come with inexpensive tarps and tents. One big drawback is the shortest adjustment length is only half the rope length.

yeah I seen that, that,s where your expertise comes in, get your elves on it Dutch, I also hate the way the seem to promote that horrible rope stuff,i will see if it will hold on amsteel ( larks headed on to tree straps)when I get a chance

that is a big draw back for sure especially on an indoor hang ,that's why I will have to wait until I get some time to try them out doors, they really do add a lot to your minimum hang distance

Amsteel used instead of rope as in the video would be worse. Stick with straps, if for nothing else, to keep us able to hang in local trees.

Also, as gmcttr stated, if you had a 12' line coming off the tree (after the wrap), you could only get down to 6' at the shortest length. Sometimes, I need to get as close as a foot or so. Not for me.
