    Very cool indeed!

Get 'em started early, kids love the hammock. I'll bet no one at her school has a hammock set up in their room!

Check out my daughter lovin' her hammock out on the deck. http://

This was a really good idea, I think I will take this up with the 'dragon' and see what she thinks, our two girls share room and the oldest one wants to use her hammock more..

Just think how much of her room becomes 'usable space' just by taking down/moving one end while not in use. 21st century Murphy Bed!

That was why we discussed it weeks ago. She had the smallest room, and she grew out of her kid's bunk. This morning, she unclipped one end, hung it on the wall with the other end, and reported that she needs a larger hammock! Who ever heard of an 11 year old girl wearing size 9 sneakers?

Found this on Craig's List... hilarious!

Then I found this... what a deal!

Before anyone zooms in on my pictures and criticizes the hardware... I already replaced the two lag hooks shown. Now that end of the hammock is a U-bolt on a piece of hard pine that is screwed to the wall with nine (9) screws, each three (3) inches long. Got the sicko to get in for a test, and she decided to stay.

The other end is a 3/16 stainless steel cable that goes through the wall right above a closet door, via a plastic conduit (from a gutter nail), then loops back through the doorway, encircling the trim. She never closes the doors, so it's ok!

I also had to make a foot box for her quilt. She keeps saying she needs a larger hammock! There's no rest for hammock installers around here!

    UPDATE:

Tonight she complained that she was cold with the fan on. So, I used another short kid's quilt to cobble together an UQ. While I was at it, I installed a ridgeline so she could hang her water and other stuff.

Check out the second picture where she puts her UQ in PeaPod mode!

Love the UQ ...... looks like something my daughter would pick!

My son has his camping hammock so my daughter wants one for herself. I don't have the time to get the material she wants and make her one so I am "loaning" her my first bridge hammock. I have to set it up Tuesday or Wednesday because I leave for Spain for 2 weeks ..... no time for DIY

I'll post a couple picks here ..... unless you don't want me to hijack your thread.
I do not wish to be disturbed - but I can't help it!

Please post them! That would hardly be a hijack...

Maybe I can get AngrySparrow to rename the thread "Kids hanging at home."

OK ..... here it is! This was my first attempt at a hammock. I am pleased with it but never got around to finishing it for camping. So it now hangs in my daughters room (for the time being). She wants her own ..... and she is going to select the fabric. I know it will be wild! I will then get MY hammock back and hang it in the back yard on my stand.

I love the fact that my kids are hangers ..... even though one loves the indoor hang and the other loves the outdoor hang!
