Has anyone had 2 adults sleep in the same hammock? My wife wants to hang with me on backpacking trips but doesn't want to spend the money in a second setup

Some folks have down it and are fine with it. Most of us though find it gets uncomfortable pretty quickly. My wife and I both tend to roll and move some throughout the night. We can't sleep in the same fixed position all night without getting sore. I need to roll over a couple times a night even in my hammock. If you two can sleep the night through snuggled tight together then you might pull it off. We can't so we hang 2 hammocks close together where we can chat some for a bit when we lay down.

For most of us two people in a single hammock just isn't comfortable. Apparently there are exceptions and then some.

Folks do it from what I've read. I just can't see how it's possible to be comfortable.
Trying that is a sure fire way to give your wife a bad first impression of the comfort of hammock camping.
My 2 cents.
Try it out for a while in your yard. Even trying to take a short nap will probably give you some idea if it will work for you. I'm making an extra wide two person hammock now. I've been comfortable hanging with someone else, never tried a full night though.
I'd be afraid of catching an elbow, or worse, a knee!

I've napped with Wife and son... that's easy
An entire night just doesn't work for me... especially if I have to get up to use the loo, a real pita.
Son is 4 1/2 and is in constant motion... annoying if you read before sleeping.
Thank you, everyone, for the advice. I should have put a little more detail in the O.P. My wife does have a hammock of her own that she takes hiking and we have laid in my hammock together to relax, but have never attempted to spend the night in it together.
I agree that hanging under the same tarp in separate hammocks would he a hell of a lot more comfortable. She just refuses to let me but her a TQ and UQ. She doesn't want to spend that much money on something she won't use that often
