We never made it. Sickness ran rampant through our household last week.

I took my girlfriend out for her first backpacking trip that weekend, and her first night in a hammock. I've never seen so many cars at a trailhead nor so many people on the trail. The east side is such a nice hike though.

Yeah that can be a zoo. I try to get out late in the fall (still can be busy but not crazy) or during the nastiest winter weather possible (still not guaranteed solitude since my MI neighbors to the north are hardcore badasses )

Funny... I first hiked it five years ago in October, hardly a soul on the trail, now it can be very busy on weekends. Backpacker had an article about 2 yrs ago on the MRT and ever since then it has been very popular. Luckily I have a hand full of dispersed sites that rarely see much traffic....

I'm guessing weekdays are pretty quiet. I've only been there on the weekends. Mid-May 2013 I saw a couple groups, busy near the parking on the south side which may have been day hikers. October 2014 a group of 4 set up camp almost on top of me at 1am on the NCT side! Other than that, I passed a dozen people and only saw a few camps set up (illegally) near the river. I like the occasional stop and chat, but not to the point where I feel like there's always someone coming from behind, pushing me along like a golf course waiting to hit!

I only hike weekends when I am desperate.. Which I am sure will be a few times this summer.....
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

I don't suppose anyone is interested in heading out for a few days during the week of July 6-11th. Just 2 nights but I'm flexible as i have the entire week off. Let me know...
