Just looked on Reserve America. Group sites are in fact $50/night (plus reservation fee), min 7 people, max 25 people. Site 5 is currently available for Thursday and Friday nights, but that's going to be pricey. You might be better off getting a regular site for those nights, then moving over to the group site on Sat. with the rest of us.

Do what you will with that info.

Called the rangers station and office ,a lady name Alison said that if by chance we do not have more then six on the site, it will be fine . I explained what we will be doing,The one night,,, and a few of us wanted to come a couple nights early, that it is fine if we can not" make the 6 min .she said as long as we have intention of have a group coming that everything will be fine.
I ask if I could use her name and she said yes ,she has no problem ,and I even said if the ranger walked up and we did not have the 6 she said he or she will not ask ,and if they do tell them that we had spoke about this very thing.

So in a nut shell as long as we will have a large group there by sat, sun, they are aware that people can not make it some times and people back out and or get sick.
So whom ever wants to go we can add or get it in a different name ,the same site so no set up and take down.
I am in for it ,and some night fishing there ,the fish there see to good to get them in the day light ...

Those couple nights early will cost $100. So long as the folks attending on those days are willing to cover that cost, I think you're good.

Not sure yet if I'll be one of those folks, if so, I'd kick in my share.
For sure trying to make Sat. Thr/Fri would allow some fishing time. They have been hauling some nice lakers and bows out of there recently.

Understood about the moneys, I just wanted to let anyone interested that there is a possibly of not have to set camp and break down.I will do it no problem. I mostly night fish that lake ,they have seen(fish) everything throne at them cos of that crystal clear water.

I will scout the dead fall and other stuff down in the water in the daylight, then fish at night .

But I will get a site if the weather is good and just move on over when you all show.
Doing Loggers a week or so after this trip, and Dolly sods a few weeks after that . Looking forward to a good summer.

I have some questions about Dolly sods if anyone has been there ,if I don't hear from any people that I am backpacking or hanging with the next couple trips I will post them.

Last year we were there - PBTB and I were paddling out and took the scenic route along the south shore. There was a guy in a boat maybe 75 yds off the retaining wall fishing. It looks really deep there and he was pulling out some fish. I saw no blow down at the time so I would consider fishing deep in that area.

That lake is very deep ,not just there . I fish along the shore if I am in my little canoe . I have had my boat there with 9.9 on it, went to sleep, and wind kicked up and was making the boat rock up and down and hitting the bottom back corner and put a hole in it work up to a boat full of water.(thank god my boy had epoxy in his junk bag) That lake can get wild day or night.

Snorkeling is a good way to get a idea of where to fish at night and where the schools are, and the different types of fish there are, and how they act.

JWright on the forums was just there 2 weeks ago. I would PM him your questions, he is a good guy and I'm sure he'll answer them if he can.

I've made alternate plans for Friday so I will only be attending Saturday. Please save a seat for me in a canoe if possible.

I'm trying to make it Fri, still don't know.

These pics are from the last week.

    Behre's has herring.
    Rainbows and lakers.

It's deep and clear and even though trout have an IQ of 6, they know what they like in the way of food. Present your bait well and you'll be rewarded. Might try some cat fishing as well, love eating fresh caught cat fish.

If I can make it for 2-3 days, it'll be worth bringing the jon boat and fish finder. Otherwise I'll just fish out of a canoe and use the depth chart to try and find some bows.
