Thanks for sharing Peter! I am a subscriber to your YouTube channel. I always enjoy your videos, please keep them coming.
That pretty much sums up the only AT section in CT I've ever hiked and the only two campsites I've ever used. I love the campsite at the convergence of 10 Mile and the Housatonic River (the lower part where you were): nothing like falling asleep to the sound of running water.
The hike up to Schagticoke Mountain campsite kicked my butt too; last time I did it I was still carrying a 35-40 lb. pack.
Thanks for sharing.

Day 3...

Enjoyed the Day 1 video so far. Thanks! I'll be there in two weeks sectioning from Bear Mountain State Park, NY to Kent.
Query: Hwy 55 is in Kent??? As I understand my maps, Hwy 55 is immediately over the border from NY and Kent is still a day's hike away, with a small town or two in-between.
Am I missing something?

Great vids. How much does your 1.6SL weigh including that spiffy new kevlar and whoopie suspension?

“Stories set in the Culture in which Things Went Wrong tended to start with humans losing or forgetting or deliberately leaving behind their terminal. It was a conventional opening, the equivalent of straying off the path in the wild woods in one age, or a car breaking down at night on a lonely road in another.”
― Iain M. Banks, The Player of Games
Apparently, I've been a little fast and loose with my geography. According to my trail guide, the Rt 55 trailhead is 0.7 trail miles north of the NY/CT border. It is actually in the corner of the town of Sherman, CT. You cross into the town of Kent when you cross the Ten Mile River. Best access to the center of Kent (post office, groceries, restaurant, lodging) is from the crossing of Rt 341, 11.5 trail miles north of the NY/CT border. The guide says the town is 0.8 miles from the trail at this point.
Hope this clarifies things.
