When straps and buckels meet whoopie hook

This came up on another thread but wasn't sure if this would be considered hijacking the thread.
I love straps and buckels for ease of adjustability and its simplicity. I hate pulling the excess strap through the buckels when packing up, especially if straps have gotten wet or muddy. I wanted to keep suspension separate from hammock but wanted it to be easy to set up. Here is my solution.

Splice a whoopie hook onto a continuous loop. Double Larks head? that loop onto a buckel.

    Run strap through buckel.

Hammock has a continuous loop through channel.

When setting up or packing up, hook or unhook the whoopie hook to hammock.

    Strap and buckel stay separate

That's a good solution. One potential issue is your minimum suspension length is affected by the additional amsteel loop. Could be an problem if your trees are closer together.

I have buckles attached with an amsteel loops on one of my hammocks and one way I get around feeding all the excess strap through the buckle is when setting up I make a bight in the strap and then feed the bight through the buckle. Doing this allows only a small amount off strap through the buckle.

    Hey Bubba,
This is actually a problem I was trying to over come. In the pictures, both loops are way to long. I probably will shorten the loops a few inches and try again. I love the easy on and off though. Also, makes washing the hammock super easy. No buckels to bang around.

This is what I use, and I love it. I transfer that onto most of my hammocks.
Mine are not too long, I found that if the length of the loops become a problem, then I can't fit my tarp, which is a bigger problem. The loops on my hammock are 7in long and the ones on the buckles are 6in, I've never measured what it ends up being together after feeding through the hammock, all I know is that both the buckles and hook are under my tarp for a water break.
    I'd rather be hanging.

True enough about the washing. You can probably shave several inches off both continuous loops. I've made loops as small as 6 inches. Not the manufacturer recommended bury lengths but I'm willing to risk it.

I like those, but since I had some regular cinch buckles, I was trying to figure out how to modify those. BTW, I have Dutch clips sewn into the other end which makes this a very fast setup!

A Titanium Cinch Buckle + a Dutch Biner = no splicing and the ability to use the CL already on the hammock.

Easy on easy off! Carry straps separate or attached.

All my suspensions are modular but work like an all in one in the field. You can leave suspension attached and when packing after rain storm pack hammock and suspension in separate stuff sacks. And if you don't have a spare stuff sack or don't want to carry the extra weight of a spare stuff sack use a spare sock instead. This will keep suspension still attached but separate. I've not tried this-- it just might work and maybe you won't lose smaller parts of suspension.
