Thanks!
I just watched the last picture from post #1 again. (I made this pattern for a nice true to scale 11' mock hammock). I noted the following interesting aspect (I never did before). If the head end top cover end would have no parabola cut, a sharp corner instead (the same than on foot end), the two pieces of fabric on the top cover would have almost the same form than Grizz beaks which I currently sew (not exactly but almost). Two math guys did the same but for different purposes is my conclusion. It is that easy.![]()
Today I made some advertisement for this forum and have to post some new pictures from my 4th test hang. I made them in a public park and there where some people who ask me "what's this". They have never seen a hammock. I gave one guy a chance to test my hammock and promised him that he can find the pictures from his first hang under HammockForums dot net this evening. Here they are. As you can see this guy liked the lay feeling in my "Steinadler" hammock:
New DIY silnylon hex tarp
Whats new? A little Black Bishop Bag with two no-see-um-mesh pockets at the bottom.
There are snakeskins and a 12' silnylon hex tarp with Grizz beaks inside. I decided to make the silnylon treatment first and to modify the Grizz beaks before I show pictures. Now you can see my finished new 12' tarp made with DIY silnylon.
I made also pictures from my new tarp during my 3rd test hang. There was the tarp still untreated and the Grizz beaks looked still like a major tragedy.
New fleece TQ
I found out that a fleece TQ is all I need during the warm summer time. Here it is.
It fits in my CS TQ. So I can use it in cold winter times too.
I still have a similar fleece UQ project on my agenda. The black fleece blanket was very cheap. I will still sew on a windproof ripstop nylon shell on the fleece blanket. Then I can use this UQ during the summer time or I can use it like a UQ protector during colder times. I will install some snaps too where I can snap on my CS UQ. Then I will have three different UQ options for all weather conditions.

All of your jobs that you've shared continue to impress me. That hammock is amazing as I complimented before and the rest of your gear looks just as good. Although that fleece pattern isn't my favorite personally, it sure looks cozy.
I really like the idea of the full bottom noseeum pockets on the bag.
Nicely done my friend!
Looks awesome, love the detail
