Actually, both Chris and Doc used MBD stoves for their breakfasts and lunches. Chris (HF name: Feetz) used his MBD Atomic, while Doc used a Miniatomic. The Bongo went along as well, but received limited use. Chris and I had removed the nipple from the Bongo and drilled out the hole to insert the fuel line (this so that the Bongo would fit into the reservoir that I had for my DUO--it was too wide with the nipple). Unfortunately, the drilled out hole is still a little tight, and the fuel line was difficult to insert. Will have to rectify this sometime in the near future. Plus Chris is a wussy and doesn't like to have to squeeze the alcohol out of the carbon felt when done....I don't know....

For me, though...despite all of my playing with alcohol stoves I am still happy with our canister stove (Snow Peak LiteMax). Thus far I have not gone camping without Stac, so there are always at least two to cook for. It's fast, convenient, and the weight difference for a week long trip for one canister vs. alcohol is actually slightly in favor of the canister stove (at the start of the week, this changes near the end of the week where you carry home less). One large cylinder (8oz) was enough for Staci and I for all breakfasts (cooking for 2), dinners (cooking for all 4 of us), night beverages, plus a couple of pots of hot water for dishwashing and bathing. We used a second canister for only one burn on the trip. So with a little more frugality, I'm sure we would have been fine with one canister. That being said I will probably purchase some smaller 4oz cylinders to bring one as the backup.

(Shrug) To each their own. HYOH, EYOF, CWYOS (cook with your own stove)

Chris did make a couple MBD promo photos that I did not post with our pics. Maybe he will post them at some point.

Looks like a nice trip. I just east of you a little last week on Pipe Lake. The weather has been great up there and NO BUGS! I used the Whitebox stove

Glad you had a good trip too Beast! Also glad you got to use the WBS. Any impressions of it? Any pics of your trip?

I liked the stove, It was just the ticket for boiling water, cooking rice, and perking coffee. I was able to bring less propane and therefore less heavy canisters. We just used the propane for frying or when we needed to be able to adjust the heat. I don't have pictures yet, I'm not part of the digital revolution so I'm waiting for my cousin to develope them and then my wife will have to scan them and up load (or is it down load

) them for me.

I had more than enough alcohol between the 4 ounce squeeze bottle and the 24 ounce mtn dew bottle, even if I had needed to cook dinners. Thankfully, there weren't any fire bans in place.

Gorgeous pictures. Looks like a fantastic trip. I have hears about BWCA but until now I didn't have a burning desire to get out there... now I do.
