The snugpak jungle blankets are outstanding, I made an under quilt with light weight webbing and shock cord in less than 15 min that performs pretty well down to 60 degrees. The jungle blanket packs up nicely in the stuff sack and is durable considering the weight and cost. I have also used one as a top quilt in fair weather.

Was just looking at these today. Like the idea of wind proof. Xrayit did you use the full 76"x 64" to make your UQ? I've made a sewn PLUQ and have hung in it down to the low/mid fifties, no wind with just a micro fleece blanket. I would think the Jungle Blanket should go that low , maybe more.

Hunter55, I cut the width down to 48" and cut the length to 72" to match my New River UQ in finished size. I trimmed the jungle blanket 2" larger and did a roll and hem on the long sides to make a nice finished edge and to reinforce the nylon strap mounting. Made a channel on the short sides that allows for a bungee cord tightener with a micro cord lock from dutch to seal up any gaps. Really I just copied my New River UQ's design.

As a side note, the Jungle blanket is an amazingly warm - water resistant - light weight blanket and since I own six I though why not when looking to do a DIY UQ.

Where have you found the best/least expensive outlet to buy one or more. Wouldn't be bad as a lightweight TQ.

I have had great success with them as both top and under quilts. Just a sewn channel on all four sides and some shock cord and you're in bidness. The lowest I've taken them is 37*, but I think I could get close to freezing. Biggest advantage over a poncho liner is the wind/waterproof breathable shell.

I've done the Snugpack Jungle blanket UQ as a modified Underwoobie, with snaps for only a foot box. The idea really started out as an improved Poncho Liner that can be used for a UQ. The Jungle Blanket lends itself very well as both.
