    Another Tarp Guy Line Question

I've been looking for ideas for guy lines/tie outs. I'm using a continuous ridge line out of 1.75 zing it and plan to make the lines out of the same material. I like the idea of having some shock cord so that there's give if someone trips over a line. I'm using the Kelty Noah 12 so I don't think tarp stretch is an issue. My thought is to combine two things I've read about in several places. Larks head a loop of shock cord to the tie out point, larks head a loop of zing it to the shock cord, prusik the other end of the loop to a 7 foot piece of zing it that has a two inch loop at the end for connecting to the stake. Any thoughts? I'll probably make the zing it and shock cord loops with double fisherman knots. If I'm lazy and don't splice the fixed loop at the end, what knot should I use there? Thanks!

a bowline (loop) is what I use at the end of my lines.

Does the bowline loop stay in the end when the lines are stored?

I put together four lines tonight. Made some 8 inch loops out of 1/8 shock cord, 5 inch loops out of zing it and 7.5 foot lines out of zing it. I was in a splicing mood so I have a 1.5 inch loop at the ends and back spliced the other end. I'm very eager to try it out when I find time. Then I've gotta fix up some shock cord for the doors.

Yep. I tie bowlines in almost all my cordage. Both ends. Helps with larksheading and whatever else.

I do the prussik loops for mine. I actually made soft shackles for each loop. It makes tensioning a snap.

If using a Noah 12 I don't think I'd bother with the shock cord. Seems unecessary even in a trip situation. Personal preference though.

I'd only consider shock cord if I were dealing with a silnylon tarp - no need for shock cord with a polyester tarp.

Thanks Shug. Those were some of the first videos I watched when I got interested in hammocking. Lots of good info there. I started to attach the shock cord in the same way, but I figured it would help with tripping more if it were its own section and also wrap up better, but I see your guy lines wrapped up well.
