I was wondering if anyone can give me advice about what a good camp pillow would be to use. I usually use my rain gear but after a while I have to adjust it.

I'm in the process of switching from tent to hammock, have a Cacoon pillow I bought for tent camping, not good at all for that, but I tried it in the hammock the past three nights and it works great. I put just enough air in it to insulate my head.

I just made one of the primaloft pillow kits from Ripstop By The Roll. http://ripstopbytheroll.com/products...oft-pillow-kit
It works well for what I need. I think the finished dimensions of my pillow are like 15"x8" with about 6 layers of primaloft inside.
I attached a length of shock cord to mine and hang it from my ridge line so that it does not slip down on me at night
I used a Thermorest pillow for quite a few trips. I just made a DYI pillow that is about 92 grams, which is considerably light than 280 for the Thermorest..I'll use my homemade pillow when needing to be ultralight.
I weigh everything that goes in my pack to help with take or leave decisions.
Kidney shaped stuff sack that sits around my neck while in the hammock, I just stuff in my down top.
I like my hammock gear pillow. It comes with a shock cord and a mitten hook so you can attach it to your suspension and adjust it you the right night. For me it's the perfect pillow
I've tried several different kinds of pillows. I went back to the Sea to Summit Aeros premium pillow. Its a lot like the coccon air pillow. They are shaped just right , not to big or small. It supports my neck & head just right in the hammock. I also put less air in it for perfect support.
I've tried the the air pillows. I just don't like the "pool raft" affect. I have one of the Arrow Head Equipment snoring cubs that I use when I have to go to ground. I have a down pillow made by one of the cottage vendors. Works well for me as I like a very flat pillow. The down pillows (at least the ones I've tried) really compress. I have a synthetic pillow made by Wilderness Logics that I really like as well. It doesn't compress as much as the down. It as the smooth ripstop on one side and the fleece on the other side. I really like to use this one in the colder months.
I have used like 7 types of pillows. Best one I've used so far is a stuff sac pillow. With my extra clothes inside. Thermarest makes one in small or large . Inside is fleece for the pillow and outside is cordura.the small is light weight.
